FORGED ELEMENT ANALYSIS

Buyer's guide

Affordable FEA software, honestly compared

Finite element analysis has a pricing problem: the established tools cost more per year than most cars, and the free tools ask you to learn a command line first. This page lays out the real options — including where our own product falls short — so you can pick the right one.

Prices and capabilities change; check each vendor's current terms. "Partial" STL import means mesh-based geometry needs extra steps or conversion first.

If you run a large engineering team

ANSYS or Abaqus remain the right call. Nonlinear contacts, dynamics and decades of validation justify the price when a project's budget allows it.

If you have time but no budget

CalculiX with PrePoMax is genuinely powerful and free. Expect a steeper learning curve and a workflow built around text input files rather than a modern interface.

If you want answers today, affordably

That's the gap Forged Element Analysis was built for: import an STL, click the faces to support and load, solve, and export a report — offline, for A$19.99 once.

Verified against hand calculations, not just other software

Every result page in Forged Element Analysis includes a built-in hand-calculation check, and the solver itself is tested against closed-form beam theory:

  • Cantilever tip deflection within 1.11% of Euler–Bernoulli beam theory
  • Mid-span bending stress within 1.14% of the analytical value
  • Curved Tet10 elements reproduce exact uniaxial stress states to three decimals

Honest limits: the solver today is linear static. Nonlinear contact, dynamics and thermal analysis are on the roadmap, not in the product — if you need those now, one of the tools above will serve you better.

Try it on your own model

The 7-day trial is the full product — every feature, no card required. If it earns its place, A$19.99 once makes it yours forever.
